Horário de Verão

Olá,

This transfer will only be 5 weeks and the next will be 7 weeks, I probably just have 3 more weeks here in Angra, I will make them count. I love Angra!!

I am making a list of members organized by "Freguesia" basically little cities in Angra. I divided then into about 7, it makes it a lot easier to pass by the less actives, organized work is always better.

I used my golf score clicker Thursday in the Praça, like city square doing contacts. That day I contacted 58 people. 40+ didn't want anything, that day we had 8 appointments fall through, Trials of Faith.

At the end of every lesson I say, "If you knew these things were true would you be baptized?" Pretty much everyone says, "well yes if I knew" then we explain prayer and how they can know for themselves.

It´s starting to get hot out, I´ve been sweating a lot!

I have been studying the manual, "Teaching in the Savior´s way". One morning I thought, I need to work on teaching people and not lessons. When I went to study the manual that was the title of the next topic to study! I am excited to keep bettering my teaching and teach like the perfect teacher, Jesus Christ.

Sunday we watched the Easter video from a few years ago, "Because of Him" with investigators André and Susana. I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ and to know that everything I am and everything I can become is because of His infinite Atonement. https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2014-00-1420-because-of-him?lang=eng

Correr

Olá,

I ran a 5k this morning with Elder Lofthouse, We live high up and ran down to the port. The first half was fast and downhill, the second half was hard, slow, and up hill. We ran it in 26:29 pretty slow, haha but its fun to run especially in Angra!

Elder Payne is from Colorado and has a twin brother who is serving in Porto, when the missions combine they will see each other and could serve together! Elder Lofthouse is from Utah and is super good on the piano and likes to run! They are both liking the Azores.

We passed some members in Praia this week, they are all still disappointed that the branch is closed, we are trying to find and strengthen the Melchizedek Priesthood holders there to prepare for it to eventually open again. Time there is always tight, having to return on the bus so it is always a fun rush.

Elder Paul V. Johnson President of the Europe Area visited São Miguel for District Conference talked about how the "storms" of our life can direct us to the "Promised land" like the brother of Jared in the sealed boats going to America (Ether 2-3) and the process of sustaining the Prophet that will take place in 2 weeks! President Tavares was also there so it was a really special meeting. He shared some pretty neat experiences and about the power of the Book of Mormon and Prayer and how we should read the Book of Mormon in the spirit of Prayer for 15 minutes everyday for the rest our our lives, doesn't matter what day or how many things you have to do. And how that book has the power to change our lives make us better, Children, Parents, leaders, students, etc. The Book of Mormon is True!

I found it cool that they with all their experience in the church they spoke about 3 simple things, Scripture Study, Prayer and following the Prophet, how great the importance and blessings that come from the simple things in the gospel,  things many of us overlook the importance of doing the little things that will eventually lead us to exaltation, The gospel is true!

Saturday morning we walked a road we usually don't walk and ran into a less active family and told their son about the Primary activity at the church that afternoon, he came and had a great time!

Tchau.

Batismo!

Olá,

English Class is going well, but I found that it is a lot easier to speak English rather than teach it. Élder Bohorquez, from Peru knew how to teach it better than us Americans, haha.

Margarida was baptized Saturday! she has changed so much before we met her, when we first invited her to be baptized she said, "I´m Catholic and I can not change." After Sara and Veronica were baptized she noticed a change in their countenance and actions, and opened more up to us and the Book of Mormon, eventually came to church and felt the Spirit really strong, considered The Church, "My Church" before she was baptized and said that she felt something entering those doors that she had never felt in her entire life as a Catholic. It is a neat experience seeing your investigators bear their testimony of the Book of Mormon and the Restored Gospel before being baptized.

In Priesthood we discused the Conference talk by Élder Holland, "Be Ye Therefore Perfect—Eventually" I really liked when he said, "hasten to say that focusing on the Father’s and the Son’s achievements rather than our failures does not give us one ounce of justification for undisciplined lives or dumbing down our standards. " Doing this gives us so much hope for the future!

My 12º Transfer has come to an end, I agree with My brother Scott and Cousin Mckay when they said, <insert 6-week transfer here> they fly by. I will stay a 4th transfer in Angra, Elder Tanner and i will divide with the 2 new Élders, my new comp will be Élder Payne, I feel so lucky to stay here another transfer which will for sure be my last here.
