Behold the Man

Bom Dia,

The baptisms in the mission have gone way up in the past few months, in April we had 81, a record since Presidente Tavares has been in the mission. The goal for May, the last full month of their mission the goal is for every companionship to baptize.

On Terceira Island there is a tradition of the "Espirito Santo" or "Holy Ghost" in the Catholic Church. They have birds that they bring around to houses, parades, these metal crown looking things, Every time the "Espirito Santo" goes to a house they put a flag up and a firework goes off, so we have been hearing a bunch this week, haha.

James 5:14 "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord." A Sister in the branch went to the hospital this week and we were able to go have a visit with her and give her a blessing. It is incredible to be a holder of the Priesthood Melchizedek to be able to bless and help others.

Elder Lofthouse and Payne returned to the mainland to get their drivers licenses. They had some difficulties and had to stay a few days instead of just 1, So it was just Elder Tanner and I on the island for a few days. We did some gardening work at a members house, took out a bunch of weeds and planted peppers and lettuce. Fun Stuff.

For an FHE we talked about President Dallin H. Oaks´ talk about small and simple things and did an activity with yarn wrapping around Junior representing a lot of wrong choices until he was stuck then talked about the good simple things we can go to unwrap the yarn and increase our light of Christ. I have truly realized that our lives in total are made up of all of our little decisions for the good or bad as President Oaks explained.

I have pondered the quote-
"The most important day in youlife and mine is the day whewe learn to “Behold the Man”when we see Him for who He truly is; when we partake with all our heart and mind of His atoning power; when with renewed enthusiasm and strength, we commit to follow Him. May thabe day that recurs over anover again throughout our lives."  -Elder Uchtdorf. Doing so I have truly "beheld the man" I know that Jesus Christ lives and that he is my Savior and Redeemer.

Boa Semana.
